Founding:
Antonio Salviati, after policy disputes with his English investors, withdrew (1877) from The Venice and Murano Glass and Mosaic Company, Salviati & C. and promptly founded a separate glassworks operating under two names: Salviati dott. Antonio for holloware and Salviati & C. for mosaic glass.

Developmental Events:

1883 Salviati dott. Antonio sold its glassworks to Fratelli Barovier and Antonio Camozzo, the director of the glassworks, who reorganized as Artisti Barovier and sold their production exclusively to Salviati & C., which continued to operate its retail outlets and a mosaic glass workshop.
1890 Antonio Salviati died. His sons Giulio and Silvio Salviati and daughter Amalia (Salviati) Ivancich continued operations as Dott. Antonio Salviati e C.
1896 Giulio Salviati and Maurizio Camerino founded Giulio Salviati & C. for marketing glassware. Silvio Salviati continued mosaic tile production and sale under the name Dott. Antonio Salviati & C. The retail outlet selling Venetian "specialties" was also continued under the name Salviati & C. All three firms joined with others in the consortium Salviati Jesurum & C., based in London.
1903 Giulio Salviati died. Maurizio Camerino and Silvio Salviati merged Giulio Salviati & C. and Dott. Antonio Salviati & C. into a new entity operating as Erede dott. A. Salviati & C.
1920 Silvio Salviati withdrew from the firm, leaving Maurizio Camerino as sole owner. The firm was renamed Salviati & C.
1921 Upon the death of Andrea Rioda, owner of Andrea Rioda & C., Salviati & C. assisted former Rioda glassmakers in organizing a new firm under the name Successori Andrea Rioda. Until its closure (1937), the products of Successori Andrea Rioda were also sold under the name Salviati & C.
(
Note: For Developmental Events concerning Successori Andrea Rioda, see the separate entry for Andrea Rioda & C. and its successors.)
1923 Maurizio Camerino's son Mario joined the firm.
1924 Maurizio Camerino's son Renzo joined the firm.
1931 Maurizio Camerino died. Mario and Renzo Camerino, together with their sister Olga (Camerino) Tedeschi, served as Directors of the firm.
1939 The firm suspended operations for the duration of World War II.
1945 The firm rebuilt its factory, which had been substantially destroyed during the War. Production centered on mosaic glass, while other glass products were produced for the firm first by Vetreria Alfredo Barbini (1950-5) and then Vetreria Fratelli Toso S.a.s. (1955-9).
1948 Olga (Camerino) Tedeschi's son Renzo joined the firm.
1958 The firm acquired a Murano factory from Aziende Chimiche Barbini and recommenced its own glass production in the following year.
1965 Mario Camerino left the firm. The firm was reorganized as Salviati & C. s.p.a., with Renzo Camerino as head of the firm.
1976 Renzo Camerino retired.
1977 Renzo Camerino's daughter Francesca joined the firm as a designer using the pseudonym "Studio Effe."
1988 The firm was acquired by the Gardini and Feruzzi families, who also owned Venini S.p.a. Production was stopped, and all products sourced from Venini S.p.a.
1995 The firm was sold to French investors. Jean-Claude Viodé was named Managing Director. Production continued to be sourced at Venini S.p.a.and other glassmakers.
