Ca' Cornaro (later Valmarana)

Grand Canal, S. Benedetto Parish (S. Marco)

CA' CORNARO, now usually called Ca' Cornaro-Valmarana because of its later owners, was erected in the 1500s adjacent to another Cornaro family palace, Ca' Cornaro-Martinengo (also called Ca' Martinengo-Ravà).

The balanced facade, though enlivened by two string-courses and by roundels and other attractive decorative motifs in marble, is overshadowed by the towering Ca' Grimani on the right.
