Gentile
Bellini apparently portrayed Queen Caterina
Cornaro (B-31) on at least three occasions: once in the famous
portrait of the former Queen late in her life (shown at left, now
in Budapest's Szepmuveszeti Museum), again as a foreground figure
in the crowd of onlookers in a painting executed by Bellini for
the narrative cycle Miracles of the Relic of the Cross (now
at the Accademia Museum), and finally in a now-lost profile portrait
after which Albrecht Durer modelled his
own chalk and watercolor portrait.
